The Salvage Barn, operated by Friends of Historic Preservation, preserves historic architectural items and keeps priceless materials out of the landfill. It serves as a source for homeowners to find historically appropriate and ecologically friendly parts.
The Salvage Barn runs entirely on donations. If you have items that are 50 years or older that you no longer need, please consider bringing them to the Barn, rather than tossing them in the landfill. Donations are tax-deductible.
The Houser-Metzger House is an example of the Late Victorian Queen Anne style. Built between 1892 and 1893, the house is individually eligible for for the National Register of Historic Places. In May of 2016, FHP moved the house from Iowa Ave to its current location at 623 College Street.
